EARTHQUAKE IN HAITI
affected Makly and his family?
"Over the past 6 weeks, I have been overwhelmed by the amount of individuals answering to the call of a nation in need. The people of Haiti are strong, uplifting and very welcoming. But after the earthquake, God and the world gave us more reasons to have Joy in the time of sorrow, and great Hope for tomorrow. The concerns and prayers we've received from all around the world, and also the generous donations and the human aid from so many countries are extremely appreciated and written somewhere special down in our hearts. I've witnessed a lot of fundraising events organized by young children from Elementary to High schools, from the people of Haiti we thank you and we wish success, peace and joy in everything. May God bless you all and may he bring you peace."

Makly has been living in Las Vegas with most of his immediately family members since 2007. However, Makly still has many family members, and of course many friends, in Haiti.
Makly is originally from the city of Cap-Haitien, Haiti which is on the north coast of the country's island and about 150 miles away from the epicenter of the Earthquake. Early reports state that the city of Cap-Hatien has had minimal affect from the earthquake's devastation.
Because the infrastructure in Haiti is down, relatively few people in Haiti are able to communicate with anyone outside of Haiti. So Makly has had difficulty getting information about the status of his family and friends in Haiti.
